Finally made it to Newport, OR. The Sylvia Beach Hotel was the destination for a writer’s workshop sponsored by author Cynthia Morris, whose new book is called “Chasing Sylvia Beach” The Sylvia Beach Hotel is an old-fashioned, quaint and cozy place to stay on NYE beach. The hotel was named after author Sylvia Beach. Each room is unique and has an author’s theme.
“Sylvia Beach (March 14, 1887 – October 5, 1962), born Nancy Woodbridge Beach, was an American-born bookseller and publisher who lived most of her life in Paris, where she was one of the leading expatriate figures between World War I and II.[1]” source: Wikipedia.
Stayed at the Ernest Hemingway room with paper mache animals hung over the bed and the likes of his favorite stuff and books surrounding me. No bad dreams came my way, luckily.

Stayed on NYE beach for three days here in Newport. The food at the hotel was amazing and their store shop had awesome merchandise, from jewelry beads from fair trade and bookish things and pens from Paris or Switzerland.
Sharing style food was in the dinning room. The writing groups sat together, it was lots of fun to play two truths and one lie. We all had good laughs during the meals. It helped us know each other a little more intimately, besides our writing projects. We learned quite a lot packed into 2 and 1/2 days.

Beautiful flowers were planted everywhere in this downtown area.

This sand picture is not funny to a photographer. There is forever sand in this cap so it can’t be used again. This cap belongs to the 50mm lens, which has the lens recessed and is not easily scratched when it hangs onto the black rapid strap.

Enjoy the beach, it’s very refreshing.
