When I hear someone say they are “sitting on the fence,” to me it means that they are unsure of what to do about a situation, feeling neutral or having a hard time making a decision.
“Sitting on a fence” people are trying to imagine going in a certain direction and have not made a firm decision. Making a decision is often better than procrastinating too long about what to do and do nothing.
Can’t say how many times my life circumstances were sitting on a fence. Looking back to connect the dots it made sense to me afterwards. My final decisions tended to be the right ones for me over time than it did when I was in limbo.
